Prosthodontist with Experience

A prosthodontist is a dentist who specializes in the restoration and replacement of teeth. Prosthodontists have received additional training after dental school to be able to restore optimum appearance and function to your smile. The treatment planning and restoration of implants, temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) and rehabilitation of occlusion with removable and fixed prostheses all fall under the field of prosthodontics.

Training to become a prosthodontist consists of rigorous clinical and didactic preparation in the basic sciences, head and neck anatomy, biomedical sciences, bio-material sciences, function of occlusion (bite), TMJ and treatment planning and experience treating full-mouth reconstruction cases and esthetics.

Dr. Elmo is committed to providing the best possible care to all patients, especially those with complex or difficult treatment needs. Dr. Elmo maintains a private practice limited to prosthodontics with an emphasis on comprehensive oral rehabilitative arts and sciences. He also works closely with oral surgeons and periodontists in planning single or multiple implant restorations. The prosthodontist is often considered the dental “quarterback” when multi-specialty interdisciplinary care is needed. He coordinates the patient’s treatment with other dental specialists to ensure a predictable outcome.

Teeth Implants

Often, patients with hopeless teeth or no teeth at all can have a brand new smile in just one day. By working with a surgeon or periodontist, the teeth can be removed and titanium dental implants can be surgically placed and then restored with provisional teeth that look good and are completely functional, all in one day. Because they are implant-supported, these restorations are not removable and are very strong.

Prosthodontics and Surgery

Fixed or removable prosthodonticsĀ are also used to replace missing teeth when dental implants may not be indicated. These may consist of fixed partial dentures, crowns, veneers removable partial dentures and removable complete dentures. These restorations can help to improve tooth function and the appearance of your smile.
