While traditional x-rays are used in some practices, we employ the use of the latest technological advancements, including digital x-rays. Digital x-rays use electronics, rather than radiation. CariVu is a specialized device that is designed to detect cavities. It works by using patented trans-illumination technology, which allows us to see right through the tooth. The device slips over the tooth, enveloping it, and shines a light in the near-infrared spectrum. The light is reflected back off of your enamel, while any cavities absorb light, showing up as dark spots. This allows us to spot cavities before they have the opportunity to progress and worsen.
